About the Conference

The School of Liberal Arts, Uttaranchal University is organising a Two-Day International Conference titled “Beyond Disciplinary Boundaries: Emerging Perspectives in Humanities & Social Sciences, Mass Media and Technology” on 30–31 October 2026 in Hybrid Mode.

The conference aims to provide an interdisciplinary platform for academicians, researchers, scholars, students, media professionals, industry experts, and practitioners to exchange ideas and engage with emerging intellectual and societal challenges.

The contemporary world is shaped by rapid technological advancement, social transformation, cultural change, economic transitions, evolving political structures, and new modes of communication. These developments increasingly transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries and require integrated approaches to knowledge and research. Against this backdrop, the conference seeks to promote interdisciplinary dialogue, innovative scholarship, collaborative research, and inclusive approaches to contemporary issues.

The conference will bring together diverse perspectives from the Humanities, Social Sciences, Mass Media, Communication, and Technology. Within the Humanities, discussions may focus on literature, language, culture, philosophy, history, translation, aesthetics, Digital Humanities, and emerging approaches to literary and cultural studies. Particular attention may be given to the ways in which literature and cultural narratives engage with technology, globalisation, identity, social transformation, and contemporary realities. The role of English in higher education, professional environments, global communication, and technology-mediated contexts may also be explored.

The Social Sciences component will encompass fields such as Sociology, History, Economics, Political Science, Psychology. Key areas may include social transformation, historical perspectives on contemporary society, economic development and inequality, governance and public policy, democracy and citizenship, political economy, social movements, caste and class, gender, migration, globalisation, sustainability, and inclusive development. The conference encourages researchers to explore these issues through both disciplinary and interdisciplinary frameworks.

The conference will further examine the transformative role of Mass Media and Technology in contemporary society. Possible areas include digital journalism, social media, media representation, digital cultures, artificial intelligence, Natural Language Processing, emerging technologies, media ethics, misinformation, digital literacy, and technology-mediated communication. Such discussions will encourage critical engagement with the opportunities and challenges associated with technological transformation.

Another important focus will be innovation, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and inclusive development. The conference welcomes research addressing social innovation, sustainable development, inclusive education, environmental concerns, technological accessibility, community development, and equitable participation in knowledge and society.

Plenary Sessions & Academic Networking

The event will feature Plenary Sessions by Eminent Personalities, Symposiums, and Panel Discussions, providing opportunities for intellectual exchange and academic networking. Participants will also have opportunities to present their research and engage with scholars from diverse disciplinary backgrounds.

Through its interdisciplinary and hybrid format, the conference seeks to build meaningful academic connections across disciplines and geographical boundaries. Ultimately, “Beyond Disciplinary Boundaries” aims to foster collaborative knowledge production and encourage innovative perspectives for understanding the complex intellectual, social, cultural, technological, and developmental challenges of the contemporary world.

About School of Liberal Arts

School of Liberal Arts was established in 2019 with an aim to provide students with comprehensive education and 21st century skills to enable them to excel in several careers in business, social sector and research. Liberal Arts education gives purpose, direction, and value to education and life with 360° personality.
